Obituary of Michael A. Guarini

Michael Angelo Guarini, Sr., beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 after a long and noble battle with cancer and left his family with the gift of integrity in the face of suffering. Michael served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Bennington, squadron VF-71 on "Operation Mariner". While stationed at Quonset Point, Rhode Island, he met his wife of 60 years. Together, Michael and Eleanor raised four children and have seven grandchildren. Michael A. Guarini CID, ASID was owner of Arbor House, Designers of Interiors. He was a master craftsman, painter and sculptor. He also applied his professional knowledge as a teacher and earned his Bachelor of Science in Education, Summa Cum Laude at The College of New Jersey. He taught interior design for seven years at Ocean County Vocational Technical School. As a journalist, Michael wrote a column on interior design for the Asbury Park Press for 15 years as well as for the Sacramento Bee and the Repository. Michael spent his past few retirement years writing his autobiography. Michael is survived by his wife Eleanor; children, Michael A. Guarini, Jr. and wife Diane, Lenora Guarini Miller and husband Bernard, Gina Marie Guarini, Eugene Guarini and wife Cheryl; seven grandchildren, Bernard J. Miller, III, Michael A. Guarini, III, Casimira Guarini, Vincent Guarini, Audrey Miller, Brandon Guarini and Leanna Guarini; sister, Olga Kuntz and husband Robert. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9:15am Tuesday at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River. Final inurnment will take place with Military Honors, at 11:30 am Friday, December 4 at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County, ( www.foodbankmoc.org ) 3300 Route 66, Neptune, NJ 07753, in his name would be appreciated.
