Debbie Ann Zumpetta, 55 of Toms River, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at her home. Debbie enjoyed racing and was an avid NASCAR fan. Born in Perth Amboy, she lived in Woodbridge before moving to Toms River in 2000.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Zumpetta and son, Jerry Zumpetta both of Toms River; her father George Cook and step-mother Marge of Smithville, NJ. Kedz Funeral Home, Toms River, is in charge of arrangements. 

Eugene J. Schnaidt, age 83, of Bayville passed away Monday, January 17, 2011.
He was an Electrical Supervisor for PSE & G, Hackensack for 41 years before retiring in 1990. Mr. Schnaidt was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Post # 3969, Clifton, the American Legion, John Raad Post, and a surviving member of the U.S.S. Shenandoah. This past October, Mr. and Mrs. Schnaidt marked their 60th Wedding anniversary. Born in Paterson, he lived in Paterson for most of his life, before moving to Bayville 20 years ago. 

Beloved husband of Helen (nee Doran) Schnaidt. Loving Father of Eugene Schnaidt and his wife Susan of Pompton Lakes, James Schnaidt and his wife Sandra of Franklin Lakes, Richard Schnaidt and his wife Patricia of Clifton, Eileen Hunt and her husband Gary of Bayville and Jean Rea of Beachwood. Father in-law of the late Michael Rea. Eugene is also survived by twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Eugene Edward Avalone, age 56 entered eternal rest on January 5, 2011 , following a brief illness. He was born in Teaneck , NJ and was the son of Frank W. and Mary Stevenson Avalone. He is survived by his mother Mary of Toms River and sisters Patricia Grazioso and Mary Thony both of Wisconsin , and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews along with his best friend and sweetheart Mary Stork. ‘Gino’ was loved by his family and many friends and will be sorely missed. He attended Toms River High School and was a cook and handyman by trade.

Evelyn M. Kloby, 94 of Brick Township , passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2011 at the Worthington Assisted Living in Brick. Evelyn was a Registered Nurse and a graduate of St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing . She worked with her husband in his medical practice for 40 years before retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Modern Muses Women’s Club and she earned the title of Life Master in Bridge. She was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church of Toms River. Born and raised in Linden , NJ she lived in Yuma Arizona , moving to the Ocean County area in 1960. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Dr. John J. Kloby in 1985.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Byrnes and her husband William of Toms River and Upper Captiva, FL.; son Jay Kloby of Seattle , WA ; grandson Greg Sharkey and his wife Rachel, Keyport , NJ ; granddaughter Erin Sharkey of San Mateo , CA ; and  numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 to 10 am at the Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave. , Toms River with a funeral service being offered at 10:00am . John ‘Jack’ Vasarkovy, 72 of Toms River passed away suddenly on Friday, surrounded by his family. Jack was a salesman with Lasco Industries of California for many years. He was a communicant of St. Justin the Martyr Catholic Church of Toms River and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Council 4969 and a 4th Degree member of John D. McMahon, Assembly 1926. Jack was also a member of the Toms River Elks #1875. Born in Newark , he lived in Irvington and Glen Ridge , moving to Toms River 50 years ago.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Terry Inaugurato Vasarkovy; son, Jack and wife Tiffany; daughters, Lisa Caruso and husband Mark, Pamela Morton, all of Toms River; sister Alberta Vasarkovy of Omaha, NE; four loving grandchildren, Brian, Mark, Laura and Jordan; and his beloved dog Prince.

Daniel J. Beierle, 19 of Toms River , passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011 . Dan graduated from Toms River High School East class of 2009 and was a student at Ocean County College . He attended St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Seaside Park . He was a smart, funny, talented, athletic, adventurous, thoughtful and caring person and had a unique and sensitive personality. Dan always made you smile and was there for anyone who needed help. He was a great teammate to many and he loved playing soccer. He loved the beach, skiing, and especially family vacations. He had a passion for his music and playing his guitar with his friends and cousins. Born in Ridgewood, he was a lifelong resident of Toms River .

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Louis J. Beierle, Jr.

Dan is survived by his parents, David and Nancy Beierle; his brother and sister, David and Jessie of Toms River; his maternal grandmother Carmella DeSimone and her husband Lou; his Maternal Grandparents, Marilyn and John Koren; aunts and uncles, Louis and Carol Beierle, Cathy Richards, Bill and Brenda Koren, Anthony and Joan Perfetto; his cousins, Cassia, Louis John, Dana, Mary, Mark, Chris, Mike, Alex and Megan; and many close friends.

Virginia McGovern, 88 of Toms River passed away Thursday, January 13, 2001 . Born in Elizabeth she lived in Toms River for many years. 

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas J. McGovern in 1997.

Barbara M. Breunig, 77 of Toms River , passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Bey Lea Village Nursing Home. 

Born in Union City , she lived in Dumont before moving to Toms River . Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Wilhelmina Breunig and is survived by several cousins.

James J. Coleman, 75 of Toms River , a devoted and much loved father and grandfather, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Van Dyke Hospice Center, Toms River

James  retired from Shop Rite / Foodarama in 1998 after a 40 year career as a Meat Manager and Butcher.  He served in the US Army during the 1950’s and was stationed in Iceland .  He was a communicant of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Born in Newark , he grew up in Monclair and moved to Toms River in 1965.  

Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara D’Arienzo Coleman; his loving children, James and wife Pamela of Milwaukee, WI, Michael and wife Meri of Freehold, NJ, Christine Coleman of Delran, NJ, Jamie Heuschkel and husband Tim of Toms River; sister, Mary Barnacle of Bethlehem, PA; and his cherished grandchildren, TJ, Cody, Zach and Kaley Heuschkel, Brittany and Madelyn Coleman, Katie Ferrone and Samantha Coleman, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

Ida M. Petruzziello, 90 of Toms River , passed away Thursday, December 30, at Community Medical Center , Toms River

She was a communicant of St. Maximilian-Kolbe Catholic Church. Ida was born in Salerno , Italy and lived in Lyndhurst , NJ before moving to Toms River in 1993. She was predeceased by her beloved husband David Petruzziello, Sr. in 1994 and a daughter MaryAnn Fitzsimmons in 2008.

Surviving are her children, David Jr., and wife Patricia of Toms River, Carmen and wife Heather of South Toms River, Michael and wife Christine of Beachwood, and Linda Pipher and husband Roger of Toms River; her sister Ann Furina of NH; sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Evelyn W. Cassidy, 91 of Lakewood , passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Harrogate Health Care Center in Lakewood

Evelyn worked for 30 years at the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. She was the secretary to Judge George F. Noonan and later Judge Marvin E. Frankel. She retired in 1978. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband. Born in New York City , she lived in Leisure Village West from 1983 until 1999 when she moved to Harrogate in Lakewood .

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert M. Cassidy in 2006, her brothers, John and Richard Walsh and her sister Anne Walsh.

Alexandria Jankowski, 93 of Toms River , passed away Friday, December 17, 2010 at Bey Lea Village Nursing Home. 

She was a stay at home mom and worked at the Gilford Park Beach selling beach badges. She also helped with voter registration and volunteered her time at many of the local charities. She was also active in the Gilford Park Community Center . Born in Newark , she lived in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood area, moving to Toms River in 1972.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Marion Jankowski in 1987.
Surviving are three sons, Stephen and his wife Margaret of Forks Township, PA, Thomas of Toms River and Alexander of Memphis, TN; her granddaughter, Kristen Murphy and her husband John; and her great granddaughter: Kaitlyn

Thomas J. Dolan, Jr., 68 of Whiting, NJ passed away at home. 

He worked for Owens / Brockway Glass Co., of Freehold for over 20 years. Prior he owned and operated the White House Tavern in Woodbridge and worked for Englehard Industries in Newark . Born in Newark , he lived in Colonia, Toms River and Bayville, before moving to Whiting in 2001.

He is survived by his daughter Erin Dolan-Mozal and her husband Michael of Forked River; his granddaughter Savannah ; a brother John Dolan of Middletown ; two sisters, Anne Bingle of Richmond , VA , and Beth Takacs of Vero Beach , FL ; and 8 nieces and nephews.

John Vincent Lauria, 80, of Manchester , passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Van Dyke Hospice, Community Medical Center , Toms River

Dr. Lauria was a Chiropractic Physician. He was the first Chiropractor in Ocean County and retired 10 years ago after 40 years of practice. He was a member of the New Jersey State Board of Chiropractors. He initiated the Toms River Chapter of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He loved skiing, sailing, tennis and baseball, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Born in New York City , he lived in Toms River before moving to Manchester .

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan Baker Lauria; his five children,  Donna Burkhardt; John V. Lauria, Jr, and his wife Patricia, Stephen M. Lauria and his wife Hope, Joan Lauria-Raso and her husband Carl and Christopher C. Lauria and his wife Lisa; his beloved grandchildren, Johnny, Amanda, Ryan, Nicole, Christina, Carly, Brianne and Christine.

Karen Haberski, 62 of Toms River , passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at her home.

Robert Allen Peterson, age 58, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 07, 2010 at home. Robert was born in Perth Amboy .

He served in the US Navy from 1070 to 1974 and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of his life. Robert graduated brom Middlesex County College and attended Trenton State , majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He worked at Pine Belt Chevrolet for 25 years as an award winning Master Technician.

Robert was active in his church, Morning Star Presbyterian Church, in Bayville, and was well loved. He was a kind and loving husband and, to all who knew him, he was an example of loyalty, kindness and faith in his Lord.

Robert was predeceased by his father, Louis H. Peterson. He is survived by his beloced wife of 26 years, Candy; his mother, Nila Peterson; his daughter, Heather Cox; his son, Robert Peterson; and his two grandchildren, Emily, 7, and Thomas 5. He is also survived by his two sisters, Karen Nagy and Linda Alessi as well as nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Morning Star Presbyterian Church, 1 Morning Star Way , Bayville , NJ (GPS locator address, 190 Grand Central Parkway ) on Sunday at 2:30pm . Sheila Smith, age 70 of Holiday City West section of Berkeley Township passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. 

Born and raised in Jersey City she lived in East Dover section of Toms River , moving to Holiday City West 10 years ago. Sheila was a cafeteria worker at St. Joseph ’s Grade School for 32 years, retiring in 2006. She served for 30 years with the East Dover First Aid Squad and was a Life Member. She was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church. Sheila loved to travel and was an avid camper. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband William D. Smith on April 7, 2010 , her parents Joseph and Eleanor Toal, and a brother Jack Toal.

Surviving are three sons, Dennis and his wife Dawn of Toms River, Daniel and his wife Donna of Beachwood, and Christopher of Toms River; her daughter, Mariellen Lee and her husband Kenny of Beachwood; six grandchildren, Nick, Erin, Owen, Megan, Kylie and Liam; two sisters, Eleanor Witterschein and her husband John, and Geraldine Reilly and her husband Brian both of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Carol Ann Rice, 66 of South Toms River , passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at her home. Carol’s life was her family. She was a ‘Team Mother’ for her grandsons little league teams. She also enjoyed playing bingo. Born in E. Orange, she lived in Belmar, moving to South Toms River in 1980.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Rice; three sons, Mark Fornelius, Dean Fornelius, Gerald Rice, Jr.; five daughters, Tammy Fornelius, Colleen Rice, Virginia Lehman, Rosemarie Turgeon and Lisa Palmeri; 20 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several brothers and sisters in law and her friends at the diner.

Visitation will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave. , on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 9 am until the service time at 12:00pm., followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family would be appreciated.

Frances G. Amato, 74 of Holiday City , Berkeley Twp, passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 . Frances was born in Bronx , NY and lived in Jersey and Secaucus before moving to Holiday City 12 years ago. She was a devoted wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gerald Amato; a son, Steven Amato; two daughters, Geraldine Fleming, Renee O’Niell; and 5 loving grandchildren, Nicholas, Danielle, Stephanie, Anthony and Chrystal.

Catherine Horbach Testa, 82 of Whiting, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Ocean Medical Center , Brick. 

Catherine worked as a secretary for the Ocean County Adjusters Office in Toms River for 15 years before retiring in 1995. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Whiting. Born in Newark , she grew up in Hillside and lived in Hazlet and Barnegat before moving to Whiting 10 years ago. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Frederick in 1999, her beloved son Frederick Jr., in April of 2010 and a sister Doris Itzel.

She is survived by two daughters; Ramona Greene of Whiting, Diane Ingram of Myrtle Beach, SC; 6 loving grandchildren, Deena Greene, Diana Greene, Dominic Testa, Katie Ingram, Robert Ingram and Allanah Testa; a sister, Barbara Lanza of Whiting; and daughter in law, Laura Testa of Ireland.

Rosemary T. Ballman, a longtime resident of Ocean and Middlesex counties, died Wednesday at the age of 45.  Born in Rahway , Ms. Ballman lived in Woodbridge before moving to Toms River in 1979. She graduated from Toms River North High School in 1983 and attended Montclair University .

She had been previously employed by Shorelands Water Company in Hazlet and Cooper Electric Supply Company in Neptune

Among her hobbies, Ms. Ballman was a voracious reader and she enjoyed classic movies and crossword puzzles. She had a deep love of animals and was dedicated to animal welfare.  She will be remembered always for her intelligence, sense of humor, and love of family and friends. 

She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret Boyle Ballman and her uncle, Philip Boyle. She is survived by her father, Albert A. Ballman and her stepmother, Joyce Laudise; two brothers, Christopher of Arlington, Mass., and Thomas of Neptune; two sisters, Karen Ballman Simone of Westboro, Mass., and Peggy Ballman Perone of Flemington.  Surviving in-laws include Gerry Simone of Westboro , Mass. , Joseph Perone of Flemington, Susan McCabe of Arlington , Mass. , and Donna Peger of Neptune .  She is also survived by three stepbrothers, John Laudise of Berkeley Heights , Ed Laudise of Naples , Fla. , and Thomas Laudise of Maplewood , two stepsisters, Meg Warden of Wyncote , Penn. , Mary Laudise of Berkeley Heights , and several nieces and nephews.

Patricia L. Kopp, 57 of Toms River passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 . Patricia’s love of nature developed into a deep love of gardening, photography and travel. Patricia worked as a real estate agent with ERA Realty and Weichert Realtors for several years. Born in Plainfield , she grew up in Warren and graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School . She moved to Toms River 2 years ago.

She is survived by her two sons, Daniel Crawford of Roebling, NJ and Dennis Crawford of Long Beach Island; her father Frank Kopp of Greeley, PA and her mother Marilyn Morgan of  Oregon; a brother, Frank Kopp, Jr. of Newhall, CA; two sisters, Carol Phillips of Austin, TX and Lorraine Hayes of White Salmon, WA; and her 3 grandchildren Gunnar Crawford, Timothy Starkey and Kyle Hulse.

Margaret V. Raub of Berkeley Twp. went home to the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 . She passed from this world at the end of a brief stay at Community Medical Center , Toms River, NJ. She was born Aug. 7, 1920 in E. Orange N.J. to Theodore and Lillian Palm.

Margaret leaves behind her loving husband of 66 years, William Raub, her daughter Victoria Pollice and husband Gary of Shirley, MA and six grandchildren: Cynthia Walters, William Walters and his wife Melissa, Stephen Walters, Glenn Walters and his wife Lynn , Virginia Walters, and Christian Pollice and his wife Lisa. She is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Margaret is pre-deceased by her sister Lillian, her step-mother Winnifred, and her granddaughter Lee.

Margaret and William spent their early marriage years in East and West Orange N.J. before moving to Ortley Beach , N.J. in 1970 where they raised several of their grandchildren after the passing of their daughter Virginia Walters.

Margaret was an active member of the Faith Lutheran Church community in Lavallette , N.J. She was a long-time volunteer for the Ocean County Food Bank. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and rejoiced in family gatherings and the warmth and love of the young members of the family. She always recognized and nurtured the best in everyone she met. She will be greatly missed and long-remembered by all who love her.

Helen Elizabeth Butter Stutski, 93 of Toms River passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Van Dyke Hospice Care Center, Toms River

Born February 5, 1917 in Philadelphia , PA , she moved to Avenel , NJ in 1925. She attended Avenel and Woodbridge schools. Helen graduated from the Wilford Academy Beauty Culture School in Newark , NJ in 1934. She married John Phillip Stutski from Perth Amboy in 1939. Helen moved to Toms River in 1945. She loved bowling, crocheting and needlework, gardening and Atlantic City . She was a member of St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church and was a Life Member of Deborah Hospital Foundation of Browns Mills. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John in 1964 and a daughter Geraldine Ann in 2002.

Helen is survived by her daughter Bonnie Stutski, and her son John P. Stutski, Jr and his wife Lisa; three grandchildren, Cheryl Napolitano, Theresa Natoli, and George Young, Jr.; four great grandchildren, Nicholas Paul, Joseph Paul, Michael Anthony and Carina Leigh.

Gerald F. Barlow, Sr. 82, of Toms River , formerly of Lakehurst , NJ died Friday, October 29, 2010 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Barlow was Vice President of Operations for Harry M. Stevens, Inc, in Cranbury , NJ for 27 years, retiring in 1991. At age 14 he ran away from St. Johns Orphanage in Brooklyn , NY , and joined the Navy in 1943 at the age of 15 and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1964. He had served aboard the USS Wasp during World War II and had also served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Barlow was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the U.S. Navy Memorial Fleet Reserve. He was also a member of AARP.

Gerald was predeceased by his brother Harold and three sisters, Bernice Klug, Beverly Mazza and Lorraine Waller

Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Mt. Holly moving to Toms River in 1973.

Terry Mullen, Sr., 60 of Toms River passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at VanDyke Hospice Care Center , Toms River

Terry worked as a roofer for Coffey Brothers Roofing of Howell, NJ. Terry proudly served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. He was born in Queens , NY and lived most of his life in Toms River . He was predeceased by his parents John and Ann Mullen and his brother Joseph.

Surviving are his wife Joanne; a son, John Mullen, Jr., three daughters: Wendy Mullen, Christi Wilson and her husband Ben, Kelly Ritchie and her husband Harry, and Kathleen Ritchie and her husband Timmy; his brother Michael Mullen and his wife Laura; and 11  loving grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jean Murray, 80 of Ocean Grove, formerly of Whiting and Avon-by-the-sea, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 16 at Jersey Shore Medical Center

She was born in Hillier Ontario, Canada. Jean was the second of nine children born to Reginald and Ellen Harrington. They moved to Toronto where Jean attended the Sackville Street Mission . It was at the mission where she met her future husband, Rev. Thomas Murray. Jean attended Emmaus Bible College in Toronto and then graduated from The American Seminary of the Bible in Brooklyn , NY . Jean served with her husband Toms in four churches: the Bible Christian Church in Brooklyn , NY ; West Natick Chapel in Natick , Mass. ; Curtis Corner Baptist Church in Peacedale , R.I. , and for 24 years at Avon Baptist Church , formerly Taylor Memorial Baptist Church .

Jean was a member of the Bible Christian Union, a member of the Avon Baptist Church and Whiting Bible Church . She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School , Pioneer Clubs, CEF Good News Clubs and helped with Adventure Pals. Jean was a dedicated mother who, after her own children were grown, took in foster children and others needing a place to call home. Jean spent her last years at Manor-By-The-Sea in Ocean Grove and enjoyed the company of many of her friends there.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Rev. Thomas Murray in 2005, and two sisters, Barbara Cowley and Joyce Aulthouse.

Jean is survived by her four sons, Bruce and Cherie, Charles and Carolyn, Paul and Bonnie and Timothy; two brothers, Glenn and Jack Harrington and four sisters, Leitha Yardley, Kae Poupore, Beverley Campbell and Gerrie Jenkins; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Frances C. Pereira, 86, passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 peacefully at home with her family at her side. 

She resided in Manahawkin and fomerly in Toms River, NJ. Frances was born on May 24, 1924 in Scranton , PA to the late Frank and Rose Barillari. Frances was a homemaker, earlier in her life she worked for RCA in Newark . Frances was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Toms River .

The Lord has called home another member of his flock, Ronald Joseph Sheehan, 68, of Toms River, NJ.  He left this world for an everlasting life on Thursday, October 14, 2010 , in the loving company of his family.

He was a graduate of Ramapo High School, Franklin Lakes, NJ, veteran of the U.S. Army, successful self employed businessman and co-founder, trustee and board member of Animal Care Sanctuary. To all who knew him, he was a religious, clear headed man of integrity, who loved life, family, friends and animals. He lived his life deliberately, with much gratitude and a gifted sense of humor. 

He is welcomed into Heaven by: his mother, Margaret Veronica; his father, Russell Joseph, and his daughter, Justine. He will be greatly missed by his best friend and soul mate of 24 years, Jacqueline Greulich; his daughter and her husband, Colleen and Frank; his daughter and her husband, Tara and Mark; his son and his wife, Brendan and Mary; his brother and his wife, Russell and Bunny. He is further survived by ten grandchildren; two nephews; his cousin and his wife, Jack and Jesse…..and Toby too.

Kenneth J. Glutting, 89, of Lakewood , passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at Community Medical Center , Toms River

Kenneth was an accountant and worked for M&T Co. at Naval Air Engineering Station at Lakehurst and for various businesses in the Ocean County area. He was a communicant of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Brick and was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Josephs Council 4969. He was also a member of the American Federation of Musicians of Plainfield, NJ. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. He was predeceased by his wife Marie Coyne Glutting in 2005.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas of Lakewood, Keith of Manhattan, Joseph of Beachwood; his daughter Mary Ann Soto of Thornton, CO.; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; a brother Robert of Monmouth Beach; and a sister Jean Gajkowski of Saylorsburg , PA.

Richard George Burgdorfer went home to be with the Lord, Sunday morning, October 10, 2010 at his home. 

He was predeceased by his parents John and Emma Burgdorfer, his beloved wife Blanche Smith Burgdorfer and a grandson Ryan Michael Weinberger. He has resided in Toms River since 1958 and was a butcher for over 40 years at the Grand Union. He was the few surviving charter members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and ushering. He was known to most people as Pop and was loved by all whose lives he touched. Our loss is heaven’s gain.

He is survived by four children, Gail Cammann and her husband Charles, Deborah Vosper and her husband George, Sandra Weinberger Bianchini and John Richard Burgdorfer and his wife Gina; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a brother Donald Burgdorfer; a sister Kay Christensen and his fiancée Lillian Eitzen.

Donald Sala, 59 of Toms River , a loving husband, father and poppy, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving and devoted family. 

Donald was a Master Ceramic Tile Setter for 20 years and then owned and operated ABC Exterminating Co. for 6 years. He attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Toms River. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Donald was born in Staten Island , NY and lived there until moving to Toms River in 1981. Donald was a very outgoing, funny man who loved to joke around and always helped others in times of need. He was a hard worker with a loving heart.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Diane Waher-Sala; his loving daughter, Lisa Wicinski, and his son in law Francis L. Wanda J. Redzinak, 95 of Toms River , passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 27, 2010

Wanda worked for the Singer Manufacturing Co. in Elizabeth as a secretary for many years, retiring in 1970. She attended St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Seaside Park . She was a member of the Red Ace’s Club in Elizabeth and enjoyed bowling, sewing and crocheting. Her greatest joy came from taking care of her family and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Elizabeth , she lived in Linden and Rahway before moving to Toms River in 1968. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Walter Redzinak, Sr. in 2005.

Walter Pysarchyk, 86 of Toms River , passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010 at The Chelsea Care Center, Toms River

Walter worked as a truck driver for many years before retiring. He had a love for the water and enjoyed spending his time fishing and crabbing. Born in Jersey City he grew up in Linden before moving to the Ocean County are 45 years ago.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen Pysarchyk in1971.

Anatoli Szczerbinin, 83 of Toms River , passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Jersey Shore Medical Center , Neptune

Anatoli worked as an Aviation Electronics Technician for the Electroid Co., in Springfield , NJ for 20 years. He was a former member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Irvington and presently was a member of St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church in Jackson . He was an active member of ODUM, the Ukrainian Youth League in New York . Anatoli served in the Army in World War II in the European Theater. Born and raised in Ludzk , Poland , he lived in Maplewood before moving to Toms River in 1994.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara Volodin Szczerbinin; two sons, Anthony and Victor Szczerbinin; two daughters, Tamara Szczerbinin, and Ludmila Tolmachova, and his loving granddaughter, Kristina Marie.

Dorothy Viola Strapko, 87 of Whiting, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at Southern Ocean County Hospital. 

She was born in Neshanic, Somerset County , NJ on July 21, 1923 and moved to the Toms River area in 1953. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Judson B. and Mary Ruth Everitt. She worked for various Title Search Companies in Ocean and Monmouth Counties as a Title Searcher. She also worked at Dial a Ride and Cares in Whiting. She was an active & faithful member of Bethany Bible Chapel, Silverton , NJ . Dorothy was loved by all and was known for her kind heart, easy smile, love of children and her enduring faith in the Lord. Over the years she was second mother to numerous children and co-workers showering them with her unconditional love. Her love of family was her greatest joy.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Strapko, her son Wayne Everitt Strapko and her son-in-law Joseph Laratta. She is survived by her daughters Margaret Laratta of Island Heights , Joanne Mullen and her husband Terry of Whiting, Nancy Strapko of Campton , NH and Virginia Chiusano and her husband John of Lanoka Harbor. She is also survived by her sons, David Strapko and his wife Jennifer of Howell and Charles Strapko and his wife Tammy of West Creek. Bernice M. Karcanes, 84 of Toms River , passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Van Dyke Hospice Center, Toms River

Bernice worked for the Callen Photo Mount Co., in Jersey City for 35 years, retiring in 2005. Bernice was a volunteer for the Greenville American Little League and Babe Ruth League in Jersey City . She touched not only the lives of her family, but also the lives of those who knew her. She was an inspiration to all and will be greatly missed. Born in Jersey City , she was a life long resident there, moving to Toms River 5 years ago. She was predeceased by her brother Fred Brehne in March of 2005..

Rose was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church of Toms River. Born and raised in Jersey City , she moved to Toms River 11 years ago. She was predeceased by her daughter Linda Cleg in August of 2008.

Nicholina ‘Nicki’ Flynn, 82 of Melbourne , Florida , formerly of Beachwood , NJ passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8. 

Nicki retired from NJ Bell Telephone Company where she worked as a telephone operator for many years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Association, and was a former communicant of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Born and raised in Newark she lived in Beachwood from 1972 until moving to Florida in 2004. She was predeceased by her beloved husband James F. Flynn in 1980.

She is survived by her loving sisters, Mary Primost of Melbourne, FL; Theresa Pagano of Toms River; sister in law, Alice Soriano of Union, NJ; niece Kathleen Bogus and nephew Kevin Their; great nieces, Jessica and Jennifer Bogus all of Melbourne, Fl. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.

Timothy J. Moore, 48 of Toms River passed away Saturday, September 04, 2010 at the  Fountainview Care Center .

He was a member of the Holy Innocents at St. Justin’s Catholic Church and was a resident for several years of the21 Plus Dallas Drive Group Home in Toms River . Timothy also attended the ARC transition school, the 21 Plus workshop and the Young at Heart in Bricktown. He was born and raised in Jersey City before moving to Toms River . Timothy was predeceased by his loving parents, James and Agnes Moore

He is survived by his beloved sister Kevin Marie Moore and brother James Moore and his wife Patricia. He is a loving uncle of James Michael and Brian Patrick Moore.

Paul B. Yodice, Sr., 45 of Forked River , passed away Monday, August 30, 2010 at Community Medical Center

Paul was the catalyst for his family business  Total Garage Solutions, of Forked River . He loved to ride his Harley motorcycle and was a member of the Ocean County Harley Davidson Association. Born in Paterson he grew up in Toms River , moving to Forked River 5 years ago. He was predeceased by his mother Clorinda Yodice in 2002 and brother Frank J. Yodice in 2007

He is survived by his loving wife Annette and his children Paulie B. Yodice, Jr., aka Walnuts and Lina Marie Yodice,  his little princess;  his father Frank A. Yodice, Carole Britton and sisters, Patti Nelson her husband Bob, and Tracey Yodice . 

Paul was loving, strong and family oriented and his spirit will continue through the lives of our family including his loving nieces and nephews:  Carolyn, Greg, Eric, Sean, Kathy, Anastacia, Angela, Jerome Thomas ( JT), Tyler, Lia, Audrey, Ethan, Carter and Lily as well as Carole’s children Joey, Clorinda, John and Jackie.

Cornelius Romano, 85 of Toms River , passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Van Dyke Hospice Center, Toms River

He was a Union City Fireman for 25 years, retiring in 1983. He served in the United States Army Air Corp. during World War II with the 100th bomber group and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Born and raised in Hoboken NJ he lived in Union City   before moving to Toms River in
1974.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 62 years, Antoinette; his sons, Joseph Romano of Manahawkin, Frank Romano of Garfield ; his daughter, Jacqualyn Brennan of Toms River ; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and his brother Frank Romano of Howell , NJ

Roy Armstrong, 67 of Davenport , FL , formerly of Toms River , passed away on Friday, August 06, 2010 .

Roy worked for the New York City Transit Authority as a bus operator for 21 years, retiring in 1991. He was born in Bronx , NY , and lived in Toms River before moving to Florida several years ago. He was predeceased by his wife Diane Cahill Armstrong in 1994.

Surviving are his sons, Christopher and Patrick Armstrong; his daughters Rosemary Armstrong, Marion Engle and Kelly Butterbodt; two granddaughters, Christina and Kellia.

Ira W. Lowe, 88 formerly of Toms River passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 in Port Charlotte , Florida

Ira worked as a longshoreman for the International Longshoreman Association in New York City for 42 years and retiring in 1984. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. Ira was a devoted Yankee fan and enjoyed watching the games with his grandchildren. Born in Burke , Texas , he lived in Toms River before moving to Punta Gorda , FL in 2007. He was predeceased by his wife Grace Clyons Lowe in April of 2004 and a son Robert J. Lowe in 2008.

Surviving are his son Gary and his wife Heddy with whom he lived, and 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren whom he loved.

Isabel “Mima” Giannetti, 78 of Toms River passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. 

She worked in the Ocean County area as a hairdresser and beautician for several years. She attended St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church of Toms River. Isabel was born in Almeria , Spain and lived Paterson before moving to Toms River in 1983. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank B. Giannetti, Jr., on April 19, 2010 and her daughter Carmen Giannetti of Paterson .

Surviving are her devoted children, Frank Giannetti, III and his wife Dora of Toms River,   Gloria Hage and her husband Sam of Manasquan, and Joan Demko and her husband Tom of Bayville; she was ‘Mima’ to her six loving grandchildren, Claudia, Natalie, Kirsten, Frankie IV, Nico and Mia Isabella. She is also survived by two brothers, John and Diego Perez; several nieces and nephews and her loving caregiver Mary Ferguson.

Rosemary Kissane, 81 of Toms River , passed away on Friday, August 06, 2010 at the Kensington Manor Nursing Home. 

She worked for Dunn and Bradstreet of Florham Park, NJ as a secretary for over 40 years. She was a former communicant of St. Michaels Church of Cranford where she served as President of the Rosary Society. She was a communicant of St. Justin’s Church of Toms River and a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the St. Mary’s Hill Topper Club. Born and raised in Elizabeth , she lived in Cranford and Long Island, moving to Toms River in 1992. She was predeceased by her husband Michael in 1993 and her son Thomas in 2009.

Donna M. Drozd, 50 of Toms River passed away on Monday, August, 2, 2010 at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center

Born in Plattsburgh , NY , she grew up on Forestdale Road in AuSable Forks, NY, and later attended The College of St. Rose in Albany , NY where she earned her Master's Degree in Education. Donna was a dedicated teacher and began her career in Phoenicia , NY teaching grammar school. She then taught special education in Bergen County for some time. She also taught at Helen A. Fort Middle School in Pemberton , NJ for numerous years. She was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church of Toms River where she assisted with the childrens' choir. Donna was a devoted wife and mother. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, reading, and researching her family's history. She was predeceased by her mother, Marie McIntyre who died in 1980.

Donna is survived by her husband of 22 years, Ted Drozd; her loving children, Laura, Sarah, Claire and David; her father, Robert McIntyre and her step mother Bonnie McIntyre of Burlington, NC ; two brothers, Richard McIntyre of Rochester, NY, William McIntyre of Saranac Lake, NY;  her sister Barbara Growhoski of Easthampton, MA and her step sister Jan McKenna of Chandler, AZ.

Pauline Luthenauer, 89 of Silver Ridge, Berkeley Twp., passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Worthington Assisted Living in Brick. 

Pauline worked for Harmonia Savings Bank in Elizabeth as a new accounts clerk, retiring in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church of Toms River. Born and raised in Elizabeth , she lived in Roselle Park before moving to Silver Ridge, Toms River in 1980 where she was a member of the garden club. She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1989.

Agnes R. Lentz, 80 of Toms River passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Agnes was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Island Heights, where she served as the church organist for 30 years, before retiring in 2005. She also worked as a home health aide for the Visiting Homemaker Service from 1971 to 1977. She was born in Newark and moved to Toms River in 1968. She was predeceased by her beloved husband George W. Lentz in 2004, her mother Jessie Nesmith Duncan in 1977, her father Alfred Duncan in 1981, and her mother and father in law George and Helen Lentz, and her brother in law Gary Lentz in 2001.

Agnes is survived by her two sons, Craig and Eric Lentz of Toms River; sister and brother in law, Marion and Bob Williams of Ft. Meyers, FL. ; Brother in law and sister in law, pat and Leonard Lentz of Point Pleasant.

Peter Vincent McGrath, 76, of Berkeley Twp., passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Van Dyke Hospice Center,

Toms River . Peter was a fireman with the Newark Fire Department for 25 years, retiring in 1985 and was a member of the Fireman’s Benevolent Association. He proudly served as a paratrooper in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Maximilian-Kolbe Catholic Church. Peter was born and raised in Newark and lived in Old Bridge for 30 years where he raised his family before moving to Berkeley Twp. 13 years ago. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara Saunders McGrath; son, Timothy V. Charles J. Mayer, 79 of Lakewood , passed away Saturday, June 18, 2010 , at the Van Dyke Hospice Center, Toms River

Charles was a Mosquito Control Commissioner for Ocean County . He attended the First United Methodist Church of Island Heights. He was a member of the Garden State Boat Modelers, and a former Vice-President of the Battle Ship NJ Historical Museum Society. He was also a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 18 F&AM of Toms River . Charles was born in Kearny , NJ and lived most of his life in Toms River and Island Heights , moving to Harrogate in Lakewood in 2006. He was predeceased by his brother David Mayer and his sister Jean Mayer.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife Ruth Winship Mayer; two sons, Burt Mayer of Toms River and Harry Mayer of Medford , NJ ; and two cherished granddaughters, Christina and Kimberly.

Nora T. Darragh, nee Tracy , 71, passed away Friday, May 28 at the Geraldine L.  Thompson Care Center in Allenwood. 

Born in Jersey City to Richard and Mary Tracy, she lived there most of her life. Retiring from the Hudson County Violations Bureau in 1996, she moved to Little Egg Harbor. 

She was predeceased by her daughter, Tracey Doherty; her brother Richard Tracy and his wife Patricia; and Kathleen Tracy, her sister-in-law. 
She is survived by her husband Robert; brothers Thomas Tracy and
his wife Jeanette and Patrick Tracy, her twin. Celebrating her life are her sons Michael and William Doherty and William's wife Melissa; daughters Christine Schoch and her husband Richard, Noreen Doherty and her husband Wayne Baptiste, Allison Desomma, and Sharon Doherty and her husband James Burke. Edward R. Opiekun, 81, of Brick, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Kimball Medical Center

Edward worked for Public Service Electric & Gas in Linden for 40 years before retiring as a supervisor in 1987. He was an active member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Brick.  Born and raised in Jessup , PA , he grew up in Nutley and lived in Irvington and Newark before moving to Brick in 1982. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Anne in 1994, a brother Andrew and his sister Beatrice Sobotor.

Richard W. Heagen 79 of Toms River, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 at VanDyke Hospice Care Center in Toms River

Richard worked for the Toms River Parks and Recreation Department for 15 years as a refrigeration engineer, retiring in 1993. He proudly served in the United State Marines. Richard was a skilled archer and a member of the Bow Benders of Jackson Township. He was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. Born and raised in Jersey City he moved to Toms River in 1962.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Angela Costa Heagen; four children, Susan Snyder of Toms River, Judy Ullmann of Knoxville, TN, Richard of Delray Beach, FL, and Matthew of Toms River; a sister, Doris Brown of Danville, CA; and nine loving grandchildren, Christopher, Alexis, Whitney, William, Tara, Ryan, Matthew, Luke and Caroline.

Anthony Capaccio, Jr. 67 of Lakewood , passed away Friday, May 14, 2010 at his home. 

He was an equipment operator for the Essex County Parks Department for many years. He was a member of the Men’s Club, the bowling and bocce leagues at the Fairways at Lake Ridge. Born in Newark , he lived in Belleville before moving to Lakewood in 1999. 

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa in 2000, his son Anthony III in 2008,  and sisters Elaine Raymond and Phyllis Comito

Robert W. Aumueller, 73 of Howell Twp. went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2010

Robert received his bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Steven’s Institute of Technology . He worked as a civilian for the US Army for 36 years, before retiring in 1994. In that time he earned the US Commander’s Award for Civilian Service in 1994 for Director, Survivability Equipment Division; Official Commendation for Outstanding Performance as Chief, Electronic Warfare Systems Division and was awarded a medal from CECOM Night Vision & Electronic Sensors Directorate. He was Supervisory Electronics Engineer from 1988 to 1994 at US Army CECOM, Ft. Monmouth and served as Division Director of the Survivability Equipment Division, responsible for research and production of electro-optical, radar and infrared countermeasure systems, providing 95% of all electronic warfare systems to the US Army. His division was responsible for over 40 contracts with companies ranging from small business owners to “Fortune 500” companies, with a total value of over 1 billion dollars. He was a member of the United States Army Acquisition Corp. Bob was a member of the CrossPoint Baptist Church in Farmingdale and served as assistant pastor. He was also actively involved with Dedication Evangelism, a world wide outreach ministry located in Towaco , NJ . Born in Passaic, Bob grew up in Garfield, moving to the Monmouth County area in 1958.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Arlene Hartmann Aumueller; sons, Brian Aumueller and his wife Karen of Newtown, CT., Tim Aumueller of Farmingdale; daughter, Cheri Aumueller of New York and a grandson, Zach of Newtown, CT.

He worked in the shore area building and repairing bulkheads, a job he truly enjoyed. He was a member of the Abundant Grace Church in Toms River where he was involved with the men’s bible study. Born and raised in Jersey City , he moved to the shore area in 1994.

Nicholas Botta, 74 of Toms River , passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010 . Nicholas worked as a tractor trailer driver for United Parcel Service and retired after 35 years of service. He proudly served our country in the US Army. Born in the Bronx, he lived in New York and Ridgefield Park before moving to Toms River . He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Lucy Botta and his sister Viola.

Jeffrey Caballero, 21 of Toms River , passed away Monday, May 03, 2010 . He was involved with the wrestling team at Toms River Intermediate North and attended High School North. He was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church. Born in Toms River , he lived in the Philippines for several years before moving back to Toms River .

Marion De Young, 83, of Toms River , passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010 at her home. She was born in Harrison and lived in Kearny for many years before moving to Toms River in 1984. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward in 2003.

Frank Benito Giannetti, Jr., 82 of Toms River passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010

Frank was a sheet metal worker and worked for over 60 years with the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local Union 25 of North Jersey and was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church, Toms River . He proudly served in the US Army during World War II. Frank was born in Paterson and lived there most of his life before moving to Toms River in 1983. He was predeceased by his daughter Carmen Giannetti of Paterson .

Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Isabel, his son Frank Giannetti, III and his wife Dora of Toms River, two daughters, Gloria Hage and her husband Sam of Manasquan, and Joan Demko and her husband Tom of Bayville, and six loving grandchildren, Claudia, Natalie, Kirsten, Fankie IV, Nicolas and Mia Isabella.

Minnie L. Schmicker, 90, a long time resident of Pennsauken and Island Heights , passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Minnie was born and raised in Worcester , MA and trained to become an RN at Hahnemann Hospital before moving to Philadelphia where she met her husband Robert.  They moved to Pennsauken in 1949 where her life revolved around her family, her church and her community.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Merchantville.  The Pennsauken First Aid Squad honored Minnie and Bob in December, 1977, as life members for their many years of service. She summered in Island Heights from 1963 and retired there in 1977. She was active in the Island Heights Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary, a past recipient of the Dorothy Hummel award and an honorary life member.  Minnie was also a member of the East Dover Baptist Church , Toms River . She volunteered for the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and was State Chairman of the ABCNJ White Cross. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Robert Schmicker, in 2008.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Schmicker and his wife Catrina of Rye, NY, and James Schmicker and his wife Susan of Severna Park, MD; three daughters, Betty Schmicker-Black and her husband Kevin of Los Alamitos, CA, Linda Wheatley and her husband Geoffrey of English Creek, NJ, and Susan DeScioli and her husband Louis of Kingwood, TX; and nine loving grandchildren, Gregory, Nancy and Thomas Schmicker, James and Adrian Black, Patricia and Louis DeScioli, and Katherine and Emily Schmicker.

Visitation will be held at the Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave. , Toms River on Friday from 7 to 9 pm and Saturday from 10 until service time at 11:30 . Joel H. Laster, 63 of Toms River , passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010. 

Joel worked as a security guard for CNA Insurance Co., of Neptune . His passion was sports, and he enjoyed coaching Little League, Basketball, Soft Ball and Soccer in Long Branch .  He was born and raised in Newark , and lived most of his life in Long Branch , moving to Toms River 3 years ago.

He is survived by his companion, Patricia Carney, his son Robert Carney and daughter Amanda Carney, both of Toms River , his sister, Marilyn Arnone, of Ft. Meyers , FL., his aunt Florence Myers and uncle Philip Myers.

Nancy Taylor Blanchette, 55 of Manchester Township , passed away on Sunday, April 04, 2010 .

Nancy loved and enjoyed nature especially caring for and feeding the birds around her home. She was born in Newark and lived in Jackson before moving to Manchester 30 years ago.

She is survived by her loving husband Rodger, her son William Raney of Manahawkin, her daughter Diane Kimball of Manchester, her brother, Nelson Taylor of Ocean Gate; her sisters Susan Archer of N.C., Diane Muirhead of Pine Beach, Linda Taylor of Jackson, Barbara Williamson of Toms River, and her six beloved grandchildren.

Harold ‘Harry’ A. Kennedy, 89, of Toms River , passed away, Monday, March 22, 2010

He was the son of James and Elizabeth Kennedy, born and raised in the Kereigh Head Section of Elizabeth.  Harold worked for the City of Elizabeth Water Utility Department for 25 years, retiring in 1982, and moved to Toms River . Harold proudly served in the US Army during World Way II, and was a member of the American Legion, George P. Vanderveer Post 129 of Toms River. He was a communicant of St. Justin’s Catholic Church and was a member of St. Justin’s senior citizens. He was past officer of the Gilford Park Civic Club and former member of the Gilford Park Yacht Club. 

He was predeceased by his loving wife Ann (nee: Perrit) Kennedy in 1997, and a brother Thomas Kennedy in 1990.
Harold is survived by: two brothers. James Kennedy of Toms River and Patrick Kennedy of Garwood and several nieces and nephews.

John Evers, 79 of Seaside Park , passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010 at VanDyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center , Toms River

He worked as a printer for Brewster Textiles of Paterson for 15 years. He graduated from Hawthorne High School and then served in the Air Force during the Korean War. John was a member of the Seaside Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge No. 1863 of Fairlawn. Born and raised in Prospect Park , he lived in Fairlawn, moving to Seaside Park in 1998.

He was predeceased by his wife Lois Meire Evers in 2002.
Surviving are his two children: Linda Carey of Suffern, NY; and Daniel Evers of Fairlawn; 5 loving grandchildren, Christina, Daniel, Billy, Danielle and Nicole; and two sisters, Esther Wartena of Atascadero, CA, and Ruth Prall of Point Pleasant.

Lisa Jane Fujarcyk Kurzynowski, 59 of Island Heights , passed away Saturday, February 27, at Ocean Medical Center , Brick. 

She summered in Island Heights most of her life with her family, moving here from Essex County , permanently 20 years ago. Lisa was a graduate of Tufts University Masters Program, a former Miss Ocean County , a talented artist and a splendid elementary teacher. We will remember Lisa for her loving empathy for others, her spirituality and her caring for all whom she met. She was indeed a child of God. The last of her loving family, Lisa was predeceased by her mother, Stella, father, Peter R., and her brother Peter C. Fujarcyk, and her husband James Kurzynowski.

Hope J. Hartmann, (nee Joyce) age 88, of Stockholm, Hardyston Township passed away on Sunday February 28, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Wall Township.  

Mrs. Hartmann was born in Gilmerton , VA and had lived in the Lake Tamarack section of Stockholm since 1947.  She retired in 1987 as a supervisor for Mobil Oil Corporation, NY, after 26 years service.  Hope enjoyed her many world travels and trips to Atlantic City .

She was predeceased by her Husband John L. in 1973, her son John E.  in 2000 and her son in law Robert Walsh, in 2008. 
Hope is survived by two daughter’s Joyce and her husband John Fielder of Wall, and Janet R. Walsh of Hopewell .  One son Jay T. Hartmann of Forked River and her loving niece Joyce Stewart of Brick.   She is also survived by five grandchildren Robin White, Lori Maliff, Douglas Fielder, Kaitlyn and Kyle Walsh and three great grandchildren Alexis Fielder, Ronan and Reilly Maliff.

Adair ‘Mitzi’ Ascough, 80 of Toms River , passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Rose Garden Care Center

She worked for JCP&L as an office manager and Supervisor for many years at the Point Pleasant and Allenhurst offices. She was a former member of the Manasquan Presbyterian Church and was currently a member of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River. She spent much of her time with her grandchildren, sewing and doing crafts. Mitzi was born in Passaic and lived in Manasquan for 35 years, moving to Toms River 20 years ago. She was predeceased by her brother William Xiques of Brick.

Surviving are:
Her husband of 62 years, Harold W. Ascough; son Glenn and his wife Maryellen of Toms River; daughter, Gail Ascough of Beachwood; grandchildren, Thomas, Ashley and Jeffrey Ascough, Lyndsie Hierlmaier and Kelsey Doyle; brother, Kenneth Xiques and his wife Gloria of Delaware; sister Dee DeBow and her husband Glenn of Manchester.

Doris Eve Schon, 85 of Toms River , passed away Friday, February 19 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Doris worked as a bookkeeper for Gerald Container Co., of Edgely,Pa for 35 years. Her two passions were her family, especially her loving children and grandchildren and the shore. Born in Hamilton Square, NJ , she lived in Fairless Hills and Levittown , PA before moving to Toms River 5 years ago.

Kirk was a mobile home installation and repair mechanic working for Kiwi Management of Manchester for 20 years. Born in Newport , Rhode Island he moved to Toms River in 1965. Kirk loved to fish and was a member of the Seaside Heights fishing club.

Marie Kearney O’Neill, 83, of Brick, NJ and Alexandria , VA died on February 4, 2010 .

She was born in Rahway , NJ , to Edward and Ethel Burns Kearney, graduated from St. Mary’s School, Rahway , St. Peter’s High School, New Brunswick , NJ and Providence Hospital School of Nursing, Washington, DC. She also studied at Catholic University and received her BS and Masters in Nursing from the College of New Jersey . Marie was a school nurse in the Brick schools from 1958 until her retirement in 1988. She was the Coordinator of Nurses for the Brick Schools. Many, many children benefited from her compassionate care as a school nurse. She also taught courses for school nurses at Jersey City State College and the College of New Jersey and supervised student nurses. During the summers she was an Emergency Room nurse at Point Pleasant Hospital . Marie enjoyed skiing and golf with her friends and nephews. She was a wiz at the NY Times crossword puzzles and an avid Yankee baseball fan.  She was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Brick Retired Teachers and a volunteer for Caregivers of Point Pleasant and several Alexandria charities.

Predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Reverend Edward Kearney and NJ Superior Court Judge William Kearney and her nephew, Edward J. Kearney, she is survived by her husband, William E. O’Neill and his sons and their families, William, Glenda, Theresa, Farrell and Suzanne of Virginia and Steve, Sally and Hugh of Montana . Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Rita Kearney of Toms River, NJ and her nephews and their families: John and Bernadette, Haddonfield , NJ ; Kevin, Adair, Caroline, Nora, Liam and Maeve, Buffalo , NY ; Timothy, Claudia, Lucia and Sebastian, Swarthmore , PA ; Michael, Kimberly, Eamonn and Caleb, Toms River .

John Douglas ‘Doug’ Ficken, 59 of Ortley Beach section of Toms River , passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home. 

Born in Wyckoff , NJ , Doug grew up in Oakland and lived in Jefferson Township before moving to the beach 5 years ago. Doug was a self employed construction contractor and worked in the North Jersey and shore areas for many years. He was a loyal and fiercely devoted Army Football Fan, Butler Bulldog Fan and an avid golfer. He was lovingly known as ‘Gramps’ by his family and adored his grandchildren, spending most of his time with them.

Elysia R. Wortman, 22 of Seaside Heights , passed away Saturday, January 16.

Elysia was an accomplished artist and a great cook. She had a compassionate spirit and always put others before herself. Born in St. Petersburg , FL , she lived most of her life in the Ocean County area.

She is survived by her mother, Kathleen Jones; two sisters, her twin, Chelsea of Seaside Heights, and Kiannah Wortman of Brick; a brother, AJ Wortman of Bound Brook; Fiancé, Pedro Angel Pardo of Brooklyn; step-sisters, Devinee Wood of Toms River and Danelle Wood of Tuckerton. Also surviving are her maternal and paternal grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Elysia’s loved ones find solace in the fact that she is resting peacefully in God’s hands with her cousin Mark Alan.

Ethel Adele Carstens, 85 of Toms River , passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 of natural causes. 

Ethel was born in New York and spent most of her life residing in West New York , NJ , before moving to Toms River . Ethel was a member of the PTA, a Den Mother for Pack 100 and proudly worked for many years as a crossing guard, all in West New York . Ethel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Staff Sgt. John H. Carstens, U.S. Army Air Force. Ethel is survived by her son, John E. Carstens; daughter, Marion Seidelmann; and four grandsons, Christopher and Peter Seidelmann, and Daniel and Erich Carstens.

Raymond A. Liput, Sr., 76 of Toms River , passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. 

Raymond was a member of Teamsters Local 560 and worked as a truck driver for Navajo Freight Lines of East Rutherford and ABF Freight Lines of Newark for 35 years, retiring 18 years ago. Prior he had worked at the Sherman Williams Paint Plant in Newark during the 1960’s. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Hillside . Born in Newark , he lived there most of his life moving to Brick in 1983 then to Toms River in 2003. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Anna Liput, his wife Helen Liput in 2002, and a grandson, Bryan Gantner in 2007.

He is survived by his sons, Gregory S. Liput of Bremerton , WA , Raymond A. Liput, Jr., of Toms River; his daughter, Veronica A. Gantner of Toms River; 6 grandchildren, Helen Ann of Virginia Beach, VA; Alexandra, Kelley and Chrissy of Beachwood; Patricia and Danielle of Toms River; 6 Great-grandchildren, Larry, Joshua, Breann, Isabella, Angelina and Desiree; and his brother, Richard S. Julia Masciangelo, 90, of Toms River , passed away on Saturday January 2, 2010 , at home, with her son Bill and family friend Gabe Pastore at her side. 

Born in Minersville , PA she lived most of her adult life in Pine Beach , NJ . She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1986.  Julia is survived by her son Bill, a retired Marine officer, and currently a full-time pastor at New Hope United Methodist Church in Hertford , NC and his wife Susan; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her brother Ralph Phillips of Del Ray Beach, FL is the only surviving sibling.

She worked passionately as the administrative assistant for the County Engineer in the Ocean County Engineering Department for over 30 years.  Most of her free time, was supporting her husband at Admiral Farragut Academy (AFA) and some of her fondest memories are of the parades, concerts, dances and sporting events held at the academy each year. She truly loved all aspects of her life and embraced life with gusto. Those who knew her would agree.

Julia was a member of St. Joseph ’s Church of Toms River, the local organ club and was an avid bridge player as well. She relished her lifelong friends from the local area and the alumni from AFA. She had great stories to tell about Pine Beach , Toms River and the early days living there. We are so glad we got to hear them all.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 24th, at New Hope United Methodist Church 2098 New Hope Road, Hertford, NC. 27944.

Fannie Mayer Caruso, 96 of Brick Township , passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 .

She was a manager for the Hahne’s Department store in Montclair for many years. Born in Reading , PA , she lived in Michigan and Ohio prior to moving to New Jersey . She resided for many years in Upper Montclair before settling in Brick. 

Fannie was predeceased by her first husband, Ervin M. Mayer and her second husband, Guido  Jack Caruso.
She is survived by her son Martin Mayer and his wife Nancy of Fairfax, VA;
her daughter Meredith Lewis and her husband Richard of Far Hills, NJ;
3 grandchildren: Jennifer Ekhilevsky of California , Benjamin Lewis of New Jersey , Amy Lewis-Rieger of South Dakota ; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Ronald P. Murat, Jr., 47, of Manchester , died suddenly on January 2, 2010

Loving father, husband and son, Ron was an enthusiastic coach of softball and soccer. He enjoyed boating, fishing and golf and had a great passion for cooking. Ronnie attended Toms River High School North and was an alumnus of Ocean County Community College .

He leaves behind two teenage daughters, Kristin and Meghan and his wife Jill.
He is also survived by his mother MaryAnn deGorgue of Whiting; his father the Honorable Ronald P. Murat, Sr., of Citrus Springs , FL ; and his sister Robin of Toms River.

Margaret Smith, 69 of Toms River, passed away at home on Friday, January 1, 2010

She spent her life caring for her family and was always willing to help a friend. Born and raised in New York City , she lived in Union City for several years before moving to Toms River 12 years ago. She was predeceased by her brother John Reid and sister Agnes Palasciano.

Joseph ‘Joe’ J. Buoncristiano has joined his beloved son, Vincenzo, in the arms of the Lord on December 29, 2009

He was born February 7, 1929 in the Comune di Nocera Superiore, province of Salerno , Italy . Originally a native of Newark , for the last 45 plus years he has resided in the Toms River area. At the age of 16, he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Japan . He was honorably discharged in October 1947. Joe was a “Jack of all trades, and a Master of all.” He retired from Ft. Dix , Department of the Army with 30 years of civil service.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Vincenzo and Maria; his sisters: Angelina and Anna; and his first born son, Vincenzo. He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanore; son, Michael and his wife, Gladys; daughter, Gloria and her husband Chris; his grandchildren: Jeanne, Kimberly, Angela, Cara, Gina, Gabrielle, Alex, K’Ehleyr and Rose; his great-grandchildren: Martin, Joseph, Kennedy, Christopher and Anna; his brother Tony and sister Marie. Our beloved husband, brother, father (pops) and pop-pop will be lovingly missed.

Christine Parsons, 87 of Wall, NJ, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 28 following a brief illness.  

Born in Buffalo , NY , she resided in western New York for nearly 50 years before moving to New Hampshire .  She relocated to New Jersey to be with family in August of 2006.  Her church affiliations over the years included, Assembly Hall and Berkshire Ave. Chapel in Buffalo , Andover Bible Chapel in Massachusetts and Fifth Ave. Chapel in Belmar NJ . She was married to David C. Parsons who preceded her in death on July 10, 2000 . They were married for 51 years.

Digna R. Lamela Reyes passed away on December 24, 2009 .

Digna was born in La Romana, Dominican Republic on November 7, 1935 to Alejandro and Herminda Rodriguez Reyes. She attended El Palacio Nacional for her acting and modeling studies in Santo Domingo , where she went on to model and act in telenovellas. Digna moved to New York City in 1960, where she met and married Dr. Alberto Lamela. She designed and created her own beautiful and meticulously embroidered evening gowns, which were worn to social events at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan . Later in life, she enjoyed traveling to Mexico and Europe as well as spending time with her granddaughters. 

She was predeceased by her son Fernando Lamela, who passed away as an infant. She is greatly missed by her loving children, Regina M. Lamela Briggs, Toms River and Eric A. Lamela, Texas , as well as her grandchildren, Gigi and Ali Briggs and Carlos Lamela.  She also has an older sister who lives in Salzburg , Austria and a younger sister and two brothers who reside in New York City along with several nieces and nephews. Those who knew her fondly remember her for her gentle kindness as well as her grace and elegance; she was the true epitome of a lady. “Each that we lose takes part of us/ A crescent still abides/ Which like the moon, some turbid night/ Is summoned by the tides.”

Anthony J. Anello, Sr., 83 of Toms River passed away at home on Saturday, December 19. 

Anthony worked for the A&P Tea Co. as a meat manager at several stores in the New Jersey area for 35 years before retiring in 1992. He then worked as a butcher for Mid-Shore Meats of Toms River from 1992 to 2005. Anthony was a proud Navy veteran having served during World War II. Born in Glen Ridge , he grew up in Montclair and lived in Wall Township before moving to Toms River 10 years ago. His wife of 49 years, Phyllis Cavallo Anello, predeceased him in 2003.

He is survived by his son Anthony Anello, Jr., and his wife Sandra; his grandson, Anthony Anello, III all of Toms River , and several nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.

Ruth C. Schrumpf, a lifelong resident of New Jersey , died December 10, 2009 after a long illness. 

Born to John and Sarah Cunningham in Irvington , on May 9, 1921 , Mrs. Schrumpf moved from Northern New Jersey to Sea Girt in 1953 with her husband, John L. ‘Jack’ Schrumpf, the former noted three sport All State Athlete and nationally renowned sports official. Mr. & Mrs. Schrumpf moved to Colts Neck in 1961, but later relocated to the Monmouth Shore area.

Mrs. Schrumpf was a housewife and was a well known Republican Party activist and supporter. She was involved with the campaigns of numerous Republican Party State nominees and elected officials, as well as Presidential campaigns from Dwight Eisenhower to George W. Bush. She was an advisor to several Monmouth County government officials, receiving countless commendations, letters of thanks and personalized mementos.

Mrs. Schrumpf was predeceased by her husband Jack, who died in 1998, and her daughter Nancy Schrumpf, a local realtor, who died in 2008.
Surviving are her two sons, John Schrumpf Lawrence and David Wayne Schrumpf; her niece Judith Good, and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Francisca G. Felicia, 98 of Toms River , passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Community Medical Center ,  Toms River

She was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to New Jersey in 1974. She was predeceased by her husband Raymundo in 1979. Francisca raised 7 devoted children, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Linda Clark-Homer, 55 lost her fight against cancer on December 3, 2009 at Monmouth Medical Center

Although she was born in Toms River at Dr. James Risso’s historic Maternity Hospital , she lived in Trenton during her elementary school days. From 1966 on she attended Toms River Schools and remained a loyal graduate of Toms River High School South. She graduated from Georgian Court College with a business degree. Being naturally artistic, she found her first career as a jewelry store manager. She may be remembered from Zales in the Ocean County Mall or Marcus Jewelers in Paramus . After a serious automobile accident on the NJ Turnpike, she changed careers to health care and was last employed at the Cranford Health and Extended Care Center as Director of Admissions.  Her friends and family know her as a gourmet cook and collector of cookbooks.

Linda was predeceased by her grandparents, Charles and Anna Knox and her father, James E. Clark.

 She is survived by her mother, Beulah Clark
Her beloved son, Tristan Lee Homer and his grandmother, Violet Homer.

Erin Carstens, 26 of Toms River , died Wednesday, December 3rd as the result of an automobile accident. Erin was a lifelong resident of New Jersey . She was passionate about animals and spent many years working as a veterinary technician, rescuing more animals than she knew what to do with. Erin ’s sense of humor and carefree spirit brightened the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Erin was also a devoted parent and friend to her niece Amber.

Erin is survived by her husband Daniel Carstens; niece, Amber Smith; mother, Robin Seec; brothers, Drew Boyle, Anthony Boyle and Thomas Trovato; sisters, Ellenore Trovato and Joanne DeJesus; nephew, Elias Boyle; grandmother, Carol Boyle; aunts, Erin Hill and Carolyn Raniero; best friend Jennifer Foote, and countless other friends and relatives.

Modesto T. Maulion, Jr. MD, 54, passed away Thursday, December 03, 2009

Dr. Maulion was a pediatrician and worked for Pediatrics Affiliates of Toms River before beginning his own practice in Lakewood 16 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Toms River and was a member of the BLD Prayer Group in Trenton . He was born in the Philippines and lived on Long Island , New York before moving to Toms River in 1993.

He is survived by:
His wife Marilou Maulion and two sons, Christopher and Patrick all of Toms River
His mother, Simeona Maulion; sisters, Angeles Hernandez and her husband Miguel, Abella Sotelo and her husband Lito and Dolores Maulion; brother George Maulion and his wife Felicidad, all of Mineola , New York . Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Bernard ‘Bernie’ J. Gatyas, 68 of Jackson , passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Bernie was employed by Exxon Corporation as a truck driver for 35 years and was a member of the 1 million mile safe driving club. He loved antique cars and was a member of the Antique Auto Club of Hershey, PA. He was a true handyman and could always be found working on a project in his new garage. 

Bernie was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his grandsons. Born in Perth Amboy , he grew up in Fords.  He lived in Monroe before moving to Jackson in 2002. He was predeceased by his father James John Gatyas, his mother, Margaret Palinowski Gatyas and brother Tommy Gatyas

Charles ‘Manny’ Hart, 33 of Toms River passed away suddenly on Friday, November 27. He was an avid Yankee and Eagles fan. You could always find him watching a game or Sports Center on TV. Born in Bronx , New York he lived most of his life in Manchester and Toms River .

He is survived by his fiancée Michele Pecora; sons, Darrius and Nevin Hart and his daughter Adriana Hart, all of Toms River ; a brother, William Webber of New York and his sister, Qiana Ortiz of Philadelphia ; and his aunt Francine and uncle Ronald Hart who raised him. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many close friends.

Zachary Anthony Mobus, 19, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 24 at the home of his mother and stepfather in Galena , Maryland . He was born in Dothan , Alabama on March 1, 1990 , but was a long time resident of Toms River .

Zachary will always be remembered for his big heart, his amazing personality, his awesome smile and for the caring and kindness he showed to others. He left an unforgettable impression on the lives of all those he touched.

He had an unending love for his family and friends and he will be missed by all. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his numerous friends and he loved making others laugh.  He also loved football, watching the jets play and watching wrestling.

He is survived by his father Alan Mobus of Seaside Heights , his mother and stepfather Georgette and Bruce Ellis of Galena , Maryland , his sister Megan Mobus of Toms River , his sister Jennifer Atkinson of Shamong and his brother Matthew Ellis of Galena , Maryland . He is also survived by his very special Aunt, Johanna Verellen of Pensacola , Florida whom he loved dearly, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Loren (Larry) H. Publicover, 81, of Toms River passed away in the presence of his family, Saturday, Nov. 21 at Ocean Medical Center , Brick. 

Born in Staten Island , NY , Loren & his wife moved to Toms River 13 years ago. Loren was a Master Electrician and retired in the late 80’s from the Health and Hospitals Corp., in Queens , NY . Loren was a veteran submariner in the United States Navy and proudly served his country in the Korean War. He is a Life Member of the United States Submarine Veterans, Jersey Shore Base. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and pop-pop. One of his favorite days was the birth of his granddaughter whom he loved to spoil. Loren will be remembered for his sense of humor, his kind heart and his desire to always help others. There are no words to express what a wonderful man he was. “A life that touches others goes on forever.”

Loren is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years, Jacqueline; daughter, Laureen Coup and her husband David of Bayville, and granddaughter Emily Rose Coup.

Timothy P. Sack, 60 of Toms River , passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009

He was a career-long member of the Operating Engineers Union, Local 825. Born and raised in Jersey City , he lived in Brick before moving to Toms River 10 years ago.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Kitson and her husband Jeremy of Palm Coast, FL, and grandson Jacob Kitson. Two brothers: Joseph W. Sack of Briarcliff Manor , NY , and Peter J. Sack of Belleville , NJ .

Alice Miller, 78 of Toms River , passed away Thursday, November 12.

Alice worked as an inventory clerk for Higbee’s Department store in Cleveland Ohio for many years. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Asbury Park. Born and raised in Passaic , she lived in Cleveland , Ohio from 1952 until moving to Asbury Park in 1998. She moved to Toms River this past March.

Alice is survived by her sister, Virginia Mobley of Toms River and many dear friends from her Oak Avenue residence and Asbury Park .

Marie Cordasco, 88 of Toms River , passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center , Toms River

Marie was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She was affectionately known as ‘grams’ to all who knew her. Born in Orange , NJ , she lived there until moving to Toms River in 1974. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1993 and her son Vito in 1982.

Beloved father survived by three children, Phillip of Long Island, NY, Anthony of Seaside Park, NJ and a daughter Angelica of Long Island, NY, three grandsons, Christopher, Brian and John, three granddaughters Elizabeth, Michayla and Natalie,  A sister Mary Ann Fischkelta and two brothers James V. and John Contino. He loved his family and was an avid fisherman and will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held at the Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River, Saturday, from 2-4, and 7-8:30pm, with a Funeral Service at 8:30pm at the Funeral Home.

VINCENT E. CROASDALE, “Gene”, age 83 of Toms River , passed away at Kimball Medical Center , Lakewood on Wednesday November 4, 2009 .  

Gene resided in Middletown , NJ for 38 years, before moving to Toms River .  He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was employed by and had retired from NJ Bell Telephone. 

Devoted husband of 57 years and a father of four he is survived by his wife Elaine, three daughters Diane Dixon of Atlanta, GA, Karen Lockwood of Brick, NJ and Jeannie Chapkowski of Branchburg, NJ and son Brian Croasdale of Jackson, NJ.  Gene was a grandfather to 9 grandchildren

A viewing will be held on Sunday from 2-5 pm at the Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave. , Toms River .  A Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday at 9:15am at St. Luke’s RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road , Toms River

William ‘Coop’ Cooper, 80, of Toms River , passed away Tuesday, November 03, 2009 at Beth Israel Medical Center , Newark

William worked in the advertising-circulation dept. of the Asbury Park Press. He then worked for C.B.A. of California as district manager of the advertising-circulation dept., retiring in 1987 after 15 years. He was an Army veteran of the Koran War. He was a communicant of St. Maximilian-Kolbe Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Council #4969. He was a 4th Degree Knight and member of the John D. Mc Mahon Assembly #1926. William served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Vintage Auto Club of NJ and was a member of the Silver Ridge East Bowling Club. Born and raised in Perth Amboy he lived in Toms River and San Bernardino , CA , returning to Toms River in 1984.  He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Jennie Cooper and his brother Edward.

Edward M. “Elivs” McSulla, 66 of Toms River , passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2009

Edward worked for Aristocrat as a window cleaner for over 10 years in Newark . He was a devoted Elvis fan, always watching an Elvis movie or listening to his music. He was also very artistic and loved to paint with water colors, sketch and draw. Born in Newark , he lived most of his life in Irvington on Stuyvesant Ave.

Frank Iraci, 64, of Toms River , passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 . Frank was a self employed welder and sandblaster. 

He was a motorcycle builder / fabricator and loved to ride his trike with his wife and grandson Miles. He enjoyed inventing and building his creations and received a 21 year patent for the Ark-tic snow plow pump control he designed. Frank also worked as a commercial fisherman out of Sandy Hook for several years. He volunteered as a coach for Toms River Little League and the TRBA teams. Frank was well known for his dedication to the Salvation Army Hearty Helpings program. He was born in Laredo , Texas and lived his childhood in Lakewood before  moving to Toms River in1964.

Richard  “Rick” Beevers, 53 of Toms River , passed away on Sunday, October 18, at his home. 

Richard worked as a case manager with the Ocean County Board of Social Services for 11 years. He graduated from Toms River High School South and attended Ocean County College and Monmouth University receiving his Bachelors Degree in 1983. He was a member of the Shore Vineyard Church of Beachwood and was active in several of the church ministries. Rick helped weekly in the church office, coordinated the food pantry but was most known for his prayer ministry. He was born in Newark and lived most of his life in Toms River .

Angelina Van Billiard, 90 of Manchester Township , passed away Saturday, October 17 at the Van Dyke Hospice Center, Toms River

Mrs. Van Billiard worked for the City of Newark as a clerk in the Credit Department for 20 years before retiring. She was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Catholic Church, Toms River . Born and raised in Newark , she lived in Nutley before moving to Toms River 6 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband William P. Sr. and her son William P. Jr.  Van Billiard.

David C. Peters, age 81 of the New Gretna section of Tuckerton, died peacefully Sunday, October 11 at his home. 

Mr. Peters was a machinist and worked for Proctor & Gamble in Staten Island for over 25 years. He had been active with the Staten Island Little League as a coach for many years. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. Born in Staten Island , he was a life long resident there until moving to Tuckerton 2 years ago. 

He was predeceased by his wife Grace Decker in 1997, a sister Janet Richards in 2003 and a grandson, Patrick Daniel Peters in 1991.

Frank T. Mazan, 91 of Silver Ridge Park North, Berkeley Twp., passed away Wednesday at home. 

Frank was a fireman for the Elizabeth Fire Department for 29 years, retiring in 1982. Born in Philadelphia , he lived most of his life in Elizabeth , moving to Berkeley Twp. in 2000. He was predeceased by his wife Claire in 1984.

He is survived by:
Two sisters: Jean Mazan and Helen Davis, both of Berkeley Twp.
2 Nieces: Nancy and Wendy Poole.

Armond Ipri, Sr., 91 of Toms River , passed away peacefully Friday, October 02, 2009

Armond worked for the City of Philadelphia as a truck driver for over 35 years and then worked for the Steelmanville School. He was a communicant of St. Justin the Martyr Catholic Church of Toms River. He served in the US Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He enjoyed spending his time doing home woodworking projects. Born and raised in Philadelphia , he lived in McKee City, NJ for 25 years before moving to Toms River .
